About Our Guitar Lessons Program
Guitar and ukulele instruction is offered in a private setting in 30, 45, or 60 minute lesson intervals on a weekly basis. Our ukulele and guitar lessons can be scheduled anytime on first-come, first-serve basis by appointment. We teach students of any age, skill level, and musical interests. Hence our Ukulele and Guitar Lessons Program is designed to instruct beginners, intermediate and advanced students ages 3 and up with causal to classical music interest. Variety of different styles such as Christian, country, pop, rock, jazz, and classical are incorporated into lessons based on student’s interests. We do our best to accommodate everyone’s schedules from evening lessons for busy professionals, lunch time lessons for senior citizens to earlier day time classes for very small children. All guitar lessons and ukulele lessons are scheduled by appointment and can be initiated all year round.

Students that request ukulele or guitar lessons are welcome to use their own instrument if available or can rent one via Queen City Music Studio. We also rent other instruments.
All Guitar Styles, All Places!
The guitar and ukulele are very versatile instruments. There are several styles that can be played: classical guitar, finger-style, acoustic flat picking, electric rock, pop, country, and jazz. All of these styles are taught here at QCMS, on electric, acoustic guitar and/or ukulele. Like the piano, one can play chords for vocal or instrumental accompaniment. Melodies can also be played, both single notes and chord melodies. One advantage to playing guitar is portability. You can take a guitar with you, almost anywhere you go!
Instructors and Types of Music We Teach
Our guitar instructors are professionals in their field and teach a variety of different styles of music such as pop, rock, Disney, Broadway, musical theater, soul, jazz, Christian, and classical. We teach our guitar and ukulele students using a combination of major teaching methods including Suzuki method and traditional method. We tailor the methodology to student’s personality and goals. We focus on developing the skills that are more stimulating to each student and strive to make our lessons fun and exciting experience for each student.
Performing Opportunities
QCMS sponsors several events each year to encourage students to set goals, practice, and celebrate their accomplishments. Solo recitals are held three times a year in Spring, Summer and Winter. Each Recital finalizes one of the three Semesters at QCMS allowing students to set and accomplish the goals for each term.
Practice and Parental Support
Sufficient and proper practice is necessary to ensure progress. Most children require parental guidance in organizing their time to accomplish the goals set during lessons. We believe in the importance of the triangle: student, parent, and teacher — all working together. All students are different, and it is our belief that all children can learn to play piano with the proper guidance and support. Developing a love of music in addition to making music is our ultimate goal.
